GOOD NEWS from Food4Kids, based at the Whitehall Presbyterian Church! In recognition of Food4Kids’ work providing weekend food for young children in the community, the Baldwin Whitehall Education Foundation gave Food4Kids the Above and Beyond Award. Volunteers Chris Skowronski, Nancy Gelzheiser and Cheri Densmore were honored to accept the award on behalf of the program.
Food4Kids was created when a church member raised concerns about local childhood hunger. A small group of volunteers founded Food4Kids, which provides backpacks of shelf-stable food for many young children who are on free and reduced price lunch programs to take home for use on the weekend. Food4Kids has been able to continue its work with some adaptations during the pandemic period by collaborating with the school district and other local food distribution efforts.
Giving2Grow is so grateful for the opportunity contribute to the work of Food4Kids and many other good organizations that address food insecurity and hunger among kids in the joining or donating to Giving2Grow.
