General information:

We extend grants to 501(c)(3) organizations which address childhood hunger in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Our grantees have included both organizations entirely devoted to feeding hungry children, and specific programs or projects within larger organizations.

The maximum grant amount per year is $10,000.

An organization may receive grants for up to three consecutive years, then must take a two-year break before applying again. If grant years are not consecutive, then grants are limited to 3 years within a 5-year period.

Our annual Grant Process:

We must receive grant applications by July 31.

Our Grant Committee and Board of Directors first review all grants for eligibility, alignment with G2G’s mission, and overall excellence. In September the group meets to determine which applications will be pursued and what, if any, additional information is needed from each applicant. Site visits are arranged for late September/early October to meet key contacts, follow up on questions, and, if possible, to observe the program being considered.

In November the site visitors, Grant Committee and Board meet to determine which organizations will appear on the ballot to be sent to members. The ballot is then compiled and sent to all current members of Giving2Grow in early December. Members vote on which applicants will receive grants, and all applicants are notified of decision in mid-December.

Grants are funded in January, with the distribution of all members’ dues received by 12/31.

Grantees are expected to:

Submit a year-end report at the conclusion of each calendar year, comparing the results of the program to goals/expected outcomes specified in the application.

Attend G2G’s annual membership meeting each May to review the interim status of the program and grant.

Please complete the application with concise responses. Tell us how your organization or project aligns with and will further our mission of addressing childhood hunger. Identify how you expect our funds to be used. If G2G will be funding a specific program or project within your organization, please focus on this program/project.

A list of required attachments is provided within the Grant Application.

The Budget Template has been expanded from earlier versions to help us better understand the expected uses of our grant funding. The amounts should focus on the annual operating budget of the specific program G2G is funding, if that is different from the entire organization.
