Due to steady membership growth since our first meeting in May, 2014, Giving2Grow was able to award grants to three wonderful organizations to help meet our mission of alleviating hunger and food insecurity, and improving the nutrition of children in SW Pennysylvania.
During electronic balloting and in person at our Annual Meeting on Nov 5th, 2014, our membership voted as follows:
Rainbow Kitchen: $10,000 to keep their Rainbow Kitchen and Kids Cafe feeding hungry children after school in the Homestead/Whittaker area.
Just Harvest: $5000 to support a Hunger Intern in developing long term approach to getting breakfast and lunch programs to the children that need them in our area schools.
Grow Pittsburgh: $10,000 to support their Edible School Yard program in Pittsburgh area schools.
G2G members and committees visited the sites, carefully read and reviewed the grant applications from 7 applicants and evaluated them all over a carefully written scoring rubric.
